Amakhosi, Galaxy Settle for 2-2 Draw
Kaizer Chiefs’ woes continue after registering a disappointing 2-2 draw to TS Galaxy on Tuesday night, 7 May.
Playing at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo, Galaxy maintained a strong possession (66%) of the ball throughout the game, forcing Chiefs to push themselves.
Fortunately, their efforts bore fruit in the 18th minute when forward Ranga Chivaviro intercepted a pass from Galaxy’s Mpho Mvelase and slotted the ball into the back of the net, giving the Sowetan club a 1-0 lead.
However, a penalty was awarded to the Rockets after defender Edmilson Dove was yellow-carded for a handball in the 32nd minute. Midfielder Sphiwe Mahlangu successfully converted the penalty to equalise for the Mpumalanga outfit.
The second half then saw Amakhosi down to ten men after Dove was red-carded for a foul on Galaxy’s Komohelo Sebelebele in the 45th minute.
Chivaviro and Mahlangu contributed goals in the 50th and 76th minutes, respectively. Ultimately, though, the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
As a result, Kaizer Chiefs remain in eighth place on the Premier Soccer League table with 34 points, while TS Galaxy sit in fifth place with 39 points.
